MOUNT HOPE - A man is behind bars after shots were fired last night in Mount Hope.

Jujuan Rasheed Allen, 23, was arrested for wanton endangerment for shooting into a crowd. Police said the incident happened around 8:45 Wednesday night outside of the Clinton Apartments at the corner of South Mountain Avenue and Main Street.

Police spoke with witnesses to help identify the suspect, then arrested Allen upon making contact with him.

Officers said they make it a priority to solve cases as quickly as they can when guns are involved. "For the safety of the citizens, we want to get the person and the gun off the streets as quickly as possible," said Michael Jarvis of the Mount Hope Police Department. "So any time that we have any situation and that type of a call, we're going to do everything we can to try to solve it quickly."

Allen is in Southern Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
