OAK HILL - The Fayette County Sheriff's Department is searching for a man who was attacked by a dog while entering someone else's house just outside Oak Hill city limits.
Sheriff Steve Kessler said the incident happened just after 1:00 a.m. Wednesday on Gatewood Road.
The homeowner reported she found an intruder inside her house apparently attempting to steal when she returned home that morning. She was accompanied by her dog, which attacked the intruder, biting him on the right leg. The man then fled the scene.
One neighbor says although she lives in a good neighborhood, now she is a bit worried. "I make sure I keep my doors locked when I'm home and in the evening,
because it's kind of scary that something like this could happen this
close to home," said Vanessa Nelson, who lives just down the street from the house.
The perpetrator is described as a clean-shaven black male, about 6-feet tall with a medium build and a dog bite to his right leg. He was last seen wearing black sweat pants and a grey hooded sweatshirt.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 304-574-4216 or Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867.
