CHARLESTON - University of Charleston officials are thinking about building upscale townhouses along the Kanawha River.
President Ed Welch said the school would sell the townhouses, but lease the land to the owners. Welch said that the project would provide revenue for the school and would improve the riverfront property.
Officials had originally proposed building condominium buildings there, but that plan was scrapped on 2009 after the economy soured.
Welch said the stock market has rebounded and there's renewed interest in housing on that property.
