PAX - Increased patrols on the West Virginia Turnpike after a series of crashes result in more than 100 citations.
State Police and state Public Service Commission officers conducted 74 traffic stops on commercial motor vehicles and issued a total of 102 citations.
The patrols were between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday and focused on the area between Barrier B in Pax and Barrier C Chelyan in the 60 mph zone.
The majority of the citations were for speeding. State Police said the efforts were intended to slow commercial motor vehicles due to the recent rash of traffic crashes involving these types of vehicles.
