CHARLESTON - The state's largest water utility will offer a 20% discount to qualifying low-income households.
West Virginia American Water said the program is open to residential customers who receive help through either Supplemental Security Income, WV Works, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Eligible residents will receive an application in the mail from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources within the next two weeks.
Under the program, the average household using 3,315 gallons of water would see it's monthly bill drop by about $9.00.
