OAK HILL - Hundreds of young Oak Hill students joined kids around the nation Wednesday to exercise and get fit.

With the help of teacher and Jazzercise instructor Lori Ward, children at Rosedale Elementary School kicked, pumped and danced their way to healthy lifestyles.

The Jazzercise class is part of project ACES, which stands for "All Children Exercising Simultaneously."

"I hope that they learn that they can start now getting fit because how they take care of their bodies now counts later in life, and I just hope they have a really good time," Ward told WOAY.

Teachers hope the class will make kids associate fitness with fun.

"My favorite part would have to be freestyle, basically because you can do whatever you want," 3rd grader John Higginbotham said.

First grader Halee Jones liked the freestyle portion too.

"You got to dance, and it was fun, and you got to do your favorite dance," she said.

May is also National Physical Fitness and Sports month.
