RAINELLE- A man has been arrested after police said he tried to stab another man in Rainelle.

Police Chief J.P. Stevens said Michael Dallas Mitchell, 62, was arrested Tuesday and charged with brandishing a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, trespassing while armed, and public intoxication. Mitchell allegedly entered a home on First Street and tried to stab a man inside. The victim locked himself in a room and called 911. When police arrived, Mitchell had already taken off with the knife. When officers found Mitchell he was ordered to drop the knife, he complied, but police say he appeared belligerent.

After performing a breathalyzer test, Stevens says Mitchell's blood alcohol content was .202, more than twice the legal limit. Mitchell is currently in Southern Regional Jail.
