CHARLESTON - A former head of the state's Democratic Party filed papers to make a bid for Congress.
Nick Casey has filed with the Federal Election Commission as a candidate in the state's 2nd U.S. House District.
Republican Shelly Moore Capito has already announced she will leave that seat to campaign for the U.S. Senate.
Casey chaired the state's majority party from 2004 until 2010. The Charleston lawyer is also a longtime lobbyist whose clients include West Virginia's Roman Catholic Diocese. Casey scheduled a press conference for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to announce his campaign plans at the state capitol.
