SAULSVILLE - A Saulsville man was arrested after deputies say he murdered his mother at a home they shared on Bowers Ridge Road.

Josh May, 30, was arrested by the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office Monday morning and faces a first-degree murder charge. Authorities said they forced their way into the locked home to take him into custody.

Deputies found the body of 63-year-old Sandra May on her front lawn. Prosecutors told Newswatch this wasn't the first domestic dispute.

"The family members on scene said in the past there had been some issues with the family," Mike Cochrane told WOAY. "There'd been some sort of domestic arguments in the past, but nothing here recently as far as we know."

Wyoming County deputies are investigating the incident. Authorities have not released the cause of death.

"It's actually a quiet area," Sheriff Randall Aliff told WOAY. "There's not a lot of activity in that area as far as police being involved. It's just a -- I don't know how else to put it -- it's just a pretty quiet area up in there.

May remains behind bars in Southern Regional Jail.
