CHARLESTON - A Fayette County man who failed to follow repeated orders to drop a gun during his arrest last January was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison Wednesday.
Brian Koch, 31, pleaded guilty in February to being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to deputies, they ordered Koch to drop a gun while they were executing a search warrant for his arrest. Koch refused, so a deputy fired two shots, one of which hit Koch in the arm. They also found at least seven additional guns in his home.
Koch had previous convictions from 2005 for grand larceny and in 2004 of uttering and did not have his right to own a firearm restored.
He will spend three years and five months in jail.
