Copper wiring stolen from McDowell County Communications Tower

WELCH - State police investigate copper theft from a communications tower in McDowell County.

Trooper C.S. Dunn with the Welch Detachment told Newswatch 200 to 300 feet of copper wire, valued at about $2,000, was reported missing from the county's 911 center tower.  It happened between 5:00 p.m. Monday and 1:00 p.m. Wednesday on Radio Tower Road in Hemphill.  

A spokesperson from the 911 center said operations were not affected.

There aren't any witnesses or suspects at this time.
