BECKLEY - A convicted sex offender already in jail for allegedly driving under the influence was also charged with failure to register.

Avery Lail, Jr., 48, was charged with four felony counts of failing to register as a sex offender.  Police said Lail has lived in Raleigh County for an extended period of time, but never registered.  Lail has a conviction from South Carolina back in 1988.  West Virginia law required convicted sex offenders to register with the state after 15 days.

He was originally arrested Wednesday for aggravated DUI, DUI second offense, and driving with a revoked license for DUI.

He's in Southern Regional Jail.
