BECKLEY - Churchgoers are observed the Lenten season at a weekly supper and service Wednesday nights in Beckley.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and St. Luke Lutheran Church teamed together to look at different spiritual practices each week. A supper was held at 6 p.m., followed by a worship service at 7 p.m.

Reverend Jon White, priest-in-charge at St. Stephen's, said the turnout has been good each week. "I'm again pleased with the faithfulness of our community here at St. Stephen's and St Luke, and the excitement of those getting together and doing something together," White said. "So it's been really good and the food has been fantastic."

The program alternates between the two churches each week. It will be held at St. Luke next Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. The Lenten supper and service is free and open to the public.
