HINTON - The arson suspect accused of setting fire to two structures in Summers County Friday waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday afternoon.
Billy Gill, 25, will next appear in circuit court for presentation to a grand jury. The magistrate denied the request for a bond reduction. His bond is still set at $200,000.
Police had arrested Gill for felony first-degree arson Tuesday. Gill's attorney, Ryan Keesee, said Gill maintains his innocence and believes the perpetrators are at large. "He hopes to be vindicated at trial," Keesee said. "The fact that we waived the preliminary hearing today is not an indication that he does not wish to fight these charges or have his full day in court."
Gill is being held in Southern Regional Jail.
