BECKLEY - Girl Scouts across Raleigh County celebrated diversity within their organization during Saturday's annual World Thinking Day.
Organizers said about 160 troops attended the event, where they learned about more than 15 different countries around the world. The girls put presentations together about these countries and prepared ethnic dishes.
Stacie Bolen, membership development coordinator for Girls Scouts of Black Diamond, said the organization helps build the girls' confidence. "We build girls of tomorrow - their leadership skills, their presentation skills, money management with the cookies. It just adds and adds," she said.
