Wyoming Co. murder case heads to grand jury

PINEVILLE - The case against the man charged in the death of a Wyoming County school bus driver will be going to the grand jury.

A magistrate found probable cause Friday against John Douglas New, 20, of Brier Creek.  He is charged with the murder of Elaine Birchfield, 60, at her Shannon Creek home on February 12.

New also is facing charges in Mingo County.  He is facing Grand Larceny, Burglary and Sexual Assualt.

New remains in Southern Regional Jail.
