UPDATE (2/20/2013): State Police release the victims' names in Monday's fatal accident in Greenbrier County.
Troopers said Rosetta Ann Whitt, 63, of Rupert, and Shaelynn Morris, 3, of Dawson, both died Monday following the crash on Stonehouse Road near Lewisburg.
The driver has not been identified, but State Police said that the man was not wearing his seat belt. It's unknown if the vehicles other occupants were buckled in.
The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE (2/19/2013): A woman in her late 50s and a three-year-old girl have died after a single car crash in Greenbrier County.
Trooper 1st Class J.J. Phillips said that the investigation is ongoing, but they do believe that speed was a factor in the accident. It happened around 12:30 p.m. Monday on Stonehouse Road. Phillips said that the car hit a tree and caught fire. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the three-year-old was taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center where she later died. A two-year-old boy was also taken to the hospital, the extent of his injuries is unknown.
State Police have also confirmed that the woman was in the front passenger seat and an 18-year-old man was driving the vehicle. Phillips also told Newswatch that the vehicle had five passengers at the time of the crash and that none of them were ejected from the car.
LEWISBURG- One person is dead following a car accident in Greenbrier County Monday afternoon.
