RHODELL - The Rhodell Volunteer Fire Department is raising money for one of their own who lost his home to a fire last weekend.

The department hosted a hot dog on Friday to benefit firefighter Nathan Shrewsbury. More than 400 hot dogs were sold, according to firefighters. The money raised will go toward buying clothes and other items Shrewsbury needs.

Shrewsbury said he is very thankful for the community's support. "It's getting easier and easier day-by-day," he said. "It'll always be a long journey but it makes you tougher and realize the good friends you [have]. It's a good feeling."

Shrewsbury said he wants to eventually rebuild his house. Anyone interested in donating clothes or other items for him can call the Rhodell Volunteer Fire Department at 304-683-3420.
