BECKLEY- Reports of a drive-by shooting lead Beckley Police on a foot pursuit and now a man is behind bars.
Lieutenant Gant Montgomery said that witnesses called in that someone opened fire on a home on Church Street in Beckley at about noon Thursday. From talking to witnesses they believe Anthony Johnson is responsible. A detective spotted Johnson walking, who was also wanted for other crimes. Johnson started running, and a foot pursuit started, and ended with Johnson in handcuffs.
He is charged with three counts of Wanton Endangerment and one count of a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Another count of a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm is being added from a previous crime.
Johnson will be heading to Southern Regional Jail. Police believe they can link Johnson to another drive-by shooting a few weeks ago.
