LEWISBURG - The second court hearing took place Wednesday about the ongoing lawsuit over funds for the renovation of a pool at property owned by New River Community and Technical College.
The question at hand is whether the County Commission was authorized by state statute to use bed tax money to give to the college. The money, amounting to more than $1 million, would be used to reconstruct the pool owned by the college.
County commissioners explained that bed tax money comes from the taxes that people pay at hotels in the county.
Following Wednesday's court hearing, the parties involved will wait to hear from the judge about what's next for the trial.
