LEWISBURG -- Greenbrier County has an upcoming fire levy vote in March.
Each fire department needs to pay workers' compensation, according to county commissioners, which adds to so much money that the departments are in risk of closing. The levy would provide enough money to allow each station to operate without needing fundraisers of any kind.
County Commissioner Karen Lobban said the county's fire departments are a lifeline to the community.
Voting for the fire levy will take place on March 2.
