HILLTOP - A man was transported to a local hospital with head injuries after sheriffs say two masked men broke into his bedroom to look for drugs.

The home invasion robbery happened around noon Tuesday on the 1000 block of Prudence Road, authorities told WOAY.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said the two suspects entered the house looking for drugs. They proceeded to hit the homeowner in the head several times with a space heater before they left on foot, according to deputies.

A sheriff's office K-9 tracked their scent to the road. The unidentified 58-year-old homeowner remains in the hospital in unknown condition.

Deputies continue to canvass the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fayette County 911 Center at 304-574-1610.
