BECKLEY - Middle school boys took the place of experienced waiters and served hot pancake breakfasts at Applebee's on Saturday.
The Shady Springs Upper Deck Middle School Baseball league raised $1,400 -- $200 more than it did one year ago. The money will go towards uniforms, facility rentals and other fees for the team, a coach told WOAY.
Junior varsity catcher Noah Farley said the gig wasn't too bad.
"It's pretty fun," he told WOAY. "You get to walk around and serve people. You feel like you're working."
And although his friend Dylan Reeves was working alongside him, he too said he was having fun.
"Being with my friends," Reeves said. "We get to talk and have fun."
Applebee's donated its restaurant, food and a chef for three hours so that the team received 100 percent of the profits.
