An EMT was killed and another sustained minor injuries during an accident Tuesday morning in Lewis County.

It happened during the early morning hours on Interstate 79.  Officials with Jan-Care Ambulance said that the ambulance crew was traveling back from Morgantown, where they dropped off a patient, to their home station in Mullens when the front of the ambulance hit a tractor trailer.

Both crew members were taken to the hospital.  One was treated and released; however, Mark Kinder, 26, died from his injuries at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.  Kinder had been with Jan-Care for about a year.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Department and the West Virginia State Police are investigating the crash.
