Students at Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley premiered their production of "Beauty and the Beast" Saturday afternoon.

More than 100 students are involved in the musical, based on the Disney version of the classic French fairy tale.

Tristan Vaughan, who plays Beast, said performing has been a wonderful experience. "Just doing theatre is just so much fun and learning to be a beast is just great," he said. "And the teachers have been wonderful helping me." Vaughan said the cast is like one big family.

Director Melinda Wills said the kids were wonderful on stage. "They know their stuff," she said. "They've practiced and practiced and practiced. And it's an excellent show."

Performances will take place next Thursday through Saturday at 7 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door. They cost $8 for adults and $5 for students. Seating is general admission.
