BREAKING NEWS: Sen. Jay Rockefeller Won't Run for a Sixth Term

U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller announced that he will not seek a sixth term representing West Virginia.

Rockefeller, 75, arrived in West Virginia as an anti-poverty worker in 1964.  His political career included two terms as governor.

The Democrat recently sparred with the mining industry over the future of coal and has supported President Barack Obama. 

Rockefeller said that public service has dominated his life fore a half century.  He plans to retire in 2014 to devote more time to his family.  He said that he will stay in the Mountain State.
