The Raleigh County Commission has elected a familiar face as its new president.
Commissioner David Tolliver was nominated and unanimously elected president in the wake of John Aliff's choice to retire. Tolliver has been a commissioner since 2006 and hopes to move forward by strengthening communication and cooperation between commissioners as well as improving infrastructure and sewer and water services. Tolliver's seat was replaced with republican Linda K. Epling which for the first time has put republicans in control.
"For the last 100 years its always been 2 democrats, most of the time 3 democrats, so now the people have spoken and they said they want two republicans in the office. You have to respect what the citizens of Raleigh County wanted." Tolliver said.
Tolliver also says he is excited for the year to come and is honored to take over his new role.
