Mother Nature Makes a Mess of Day 1 in 2013!!!
Good Morning Everyone and Happy New Year!
Mother nature did not disappoint for us as the sprinkles started around the stroke of Midnight and she continues to make a mess of this roads this morning. Allow for plenty of time if you must be on the roads....the current rain to snow line is holding along I-64.
This mess of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain continues through the morning hours with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark most of the day. It will transition to all snow by the evening. A light accumulation is expected before this system pushes away from the region before dawn on Wednesday. Winds will start to pick up, putting a bit of a bite on the skin this evening.
A couple of more tranquil days are expected mid-week with lots of sunshine but cold temperatures. Most locations will be about 10 degrees cooler than average. Along with the cold snap, another quick moving system could bring a few flurries early Friday morning.
Today: Mostly cloudy with a messy collection of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. Highs: 29-36. Winds: W-NW 8-16 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph possible.
Tonight: Mainly cloudy with some snow. A light accumulation of 1-4" possible. Lows: 20-28. Winds: NW 10-20 mph.
