Bells rang in churches across the state in remembrance of those who died in the Connecticut school shooting one week ago.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin requested for churches that have bells to ring them at 9:30 Friday morning. The bells at
Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill rang 26 times: one ring for each victim who died in the school.
Pastor Mark Wood said he wants the victims' families to know they're not alone. "Their extended family throughout the country, and really, throughout the world, is lifting them up in prayer. And we realize that that's the best thing that we can do," he said. "We know they won't forget, and neither will we."
Governor's offices throughout the nation also requested for a moment of silence Friday morning, at around the time when the gunman entered the school last week.
