Fire officials are urging everyone to take precautions as we enter the cold weather season. They advise folks to do the following:
-Check wood burners before usage to make sure they are clean and without cracks
-Do not overload electrical circuits in your house
-Do not put heaters near furniture or drapes
-If you are burning brush outdoors, be sure not to leave the fire unattended
-Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors at least once a month
Officials say these things are especially important now because house fires are most common during the cold weather season.
