Eleven people in Beckley now comprise the city's first Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). They received hands-on training and took a test in order to graduate from the CERT program on Tuesday.

Upon their graduation at the Beckley Fire Department on North Eisenhower Drive, these community members received their certificates, official vests and backpacks filled with important safety equipment. Ann Worley of the city council said CERT will be helpful in the case of inclement weather this winter. "I think it's really important that the city have a team in place of public people that want to be involved in the community," she said.
