This week's snow is starting to melt, but now emergency personnel are concerned about possible flooding.
The Fayette County 911 Center says there's a chance small streams and rivers could flood because of the melting snow. But it'll depend on how fast the snow melts. A more gradual melt will lessen the chance of severe flooding.
"It allows more time for runoff," says Steve Cruikshank of the Fayette County 911 Center. "Obviously, the ground's saturated, so the key to prevent flooding is the water can runoff and not accumulate at a rapid rate."
Cruikshank also says some roads could see standing pools if the snow melts too fast in the coming days.
