Crews aren't only working to restore electricity, they're also getting downed trees out of the way.
The Division of Highways, Division of Forestry, and Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies are getting them off roads in some of the hardest hit areas. Many side roads in eastern Fayette County were blocked from downed trees. The tree removal will also let deputies reach people they haven't heard from since the storm hit.
"We know that there are people who we haven't been able to communicate with because they don't have power, they don't have phone service, they don't have cell phone service," says Sheriff Steve Kessler. "So, we're trying to get to these people."
Mennonite volunteers from Pennsylvania are also inspecting damage throughout the region and seeing how they can help residents.
