Charities Need Volunteers to Help Nicholas County

Local charities are looking for volunteers to help Nicholas County dig out of the storm.

Catholic Charities and West Virginia Volunteers Active in Disasters are starting efforts to help the county, which has seen power outages, high snow drifts, and roof collapses.  They need people to assist shelters and remove snow off of roofs.

"At those times when you have no electricity, you're not anticipating getting electricity for another week even, your home is uninhabitable and you're sent to a shelter, you're in need of a lot of support," says Kristen O' Sullivan-Harrison of Catholic Charities.

If you want to help out, you can call Catholic Charities at their Princeton office at (304) 425-4306 or go to their website at
