Fire Prevention Week

Sunday, October, 7th through Friday, October 13th is Fire Prevention Week and the Beckley Fire Department is reaching out to the youth.

Starting on Tuesday firefighters will be visiting schools within Beckley City limits discussing ways kids can keep themselves safe in the event of a house fire. They will also be hosting tours of the station for students. This year they are trying to convey a special theme.

"The theme this year is 'Second Way Out' and we recommend and teach that you do exit drills in the home and everyone knows the primary way to get out of your home, but in case you're trapped by fire you should plan for a second way of escape." Captain Ed Wils said.

Beckley Fire Department visits schools every year and hopes the kids take away a valuable lesson.
