Law Enforcement officials call the drug take back event a success. They say around 300 pounds of prescription medication were collected and properly disposed of. They also encourage people to drop of more medication at local and state law enforcement locations at any time.
Saturday people all over the state participated in Drug Take Back Day.
The US Drug Enforcement Agency and its partners set up a number of locations for people to bring their unwanted or unused medications so that they can be disposed of properly. Local law enforcement as well as various advocacy groups say these events are an important step toward combating the prescription drug abuse problem in this community.
If you did not make it out this weekend, you can contact your local law enforcement to find out about permanent medication drop-off locations.
