Princeton officials are asking Governor Tomblin for help dealing with flooding.
They handed him a petition with more than 2,100 signatures. The city's asking for funding to control flooding along Stafford Drive. City Manager Wayne Shumate says the grant will go a long way in fixing a major road that floods up to eight times a year.
"I think it'll draw attention to the need. It'll help alleviate flooding problems on a state highway, and it's the allocations of federal funding to do so," Shumate says. "This is a very important project."
Princeton also applied for a $500,000 Small City Block Grant earlier this year.
