Volunteers are helping one Raleigh County community make their place better for everyone.
The National Civilian Community Corps took down an old school and cleaned up debris in Harper Heights. They're helping residents clear the area so they can start work on a new park.
"Out this way, there's not many parks, there's not much for kids growing up in this area for them to do," says volunteer Bryan Wegman. "So, the hope for this area is, hopefully, at some point, they can build a basketball court out here, put a few trails out here, some BBQ grills, so it can be a gathering spot for the whole community."
Volunteers are also scheduled to help the Youth Museum in Beckley and in Mullins this week.
