New Courthouse in Raleigh County

After four years of construction and $17 million dollars the judges are ready to move into the new court house in Raleigh County.

Today judges dedicated the 70,000 square foot Raleigh County Judicial Center to be the new home of judges, magistrates and family courts.  The current courthouse was built in the 1930's and the Raleigh County court system was spread throughout Beckley so this new courthouse will help out tremendously, including the $1.2 million dollars put in for technology.

"I''m a little apprehensive, but I'm excited because the facilities are going to allow us to take a step forward providing services to people who actually come to court," said Judge John Hutchison of Raleigh County.

Raleigh County judges will be moving in to the new courthouse next week, and everyone will be moved by May first.
