Three Counties Get Drug Drop-Off Boxes

More counties are encouraging everyone to throw out any unused prescription pills.

Sheriff's Departments in Monroe, Raleigh, and Summers Counties unveiled their drug disposal bins.  The boxes will store unwanted pills, which will be destroyed.  Sheriffs hope this effort cuts down on crime and put seniors at ease.

"i can see this putting them at ease when they're no longer taking this medication and they can bring it in and put it in this box, or we come and get it," says Monroe County Sheriff Mike Gravely.  "It would be preventing someone from breaking into their houses and trying to steal the drugs."

The Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department started their own collection recently.  Sheriff Jim Childers says they collected ten pounds of pills in January.
