Hundreds stop for free blue jeans

BECKLEY – Downtown Beckley welcomed a huge crowd looking for some new threads Friday afternoon.

The economy is tough and clothes are expensive, so one local organization is doing its part to make sure you're cool and comfortable as autumn rolls in.

The Family Options Providers in Beckley is giving away blue jeans and other clothes at no cost for low-income families.

Their tents are set up at Word Park Beckley. They have clothes at the tent that will fit kids from Pre-K to 19-years-old.

And thinking about the kids is key, says administrator Ashley Parrish.

β€œIt's hard to send kids to schools in inappropriate clothing. They get picked on; they get in trouble for wearing it, and so it's pertinent to their success in school, they feel good about themselves and they're comfortable in what they're wearing.”

If you want to contribute you can donate at the Family Options Providers office on Eisenhower Drive.
