BECKLEY – A 24-year downtown tradition is wrapping up another successful year with a crowd of hundreds.

The annual Fridays in the Park in downtown Beckley welcomed its last crowd for live music and food this afternoon.

The long-time Raleigh County tradition highlights local performers, vendors, and offers a fun hangout for locals to enjoy the weather.

Fridays at the Park runs from May to August and officials are already looking forward to another summer in 2015. And you can expect more of the same.

“You know if it's not broke don't fix it,” says Beckley Events Director, Jill Moorefield, “And it's been working out for years and so we are looking forward to another great year next summer.”

Moorefield adds there’s still one more gathering – without the music – at the park next week

“What's left for this year is our Kids Classic festival out at Lake Stephens this weekend, runs through next weekend, that will be uptown (too).”

The Kids Classic runs through September 7. The parade in downtown starts on Saturday at 11 a.m.
