BECKLEY – Labor Day weekend signals the end of summer and the last chance for a holiday before the leaves turn.

AAA in Beckley says this weekend is one of the busiest travel days of the year, and with lower gas prices than usual they expect as much as a 10 percent increase in travelers across the country. That's the most in nearly a decade.

Officials encourage you to check your car before you pull out, including tire pressure and hoses under the hood.

“Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer,” says AAA spokesperson Autumn Bes, “We are expecting more travelers this year than we've seen in six years. So we're expecting about 35 million travelers to be out there. Roadways are going to be very busy.”

AAA also offers mobile apps for iPhone and Android that will help you in your travels with gas prices, tour books, and Trip Tiks.
