LEWISBURG - An art gallery in Lewisburg was broken into and the man responsible is behind bars, according to police.

David Trent, 30, is charged with breaking and entering, public intoxication, obstructing an officer and battery on an officer.

Officers found Trent on South Lafayette Street Wednesday evening, intoxicated on multiple drugs and acting combative when police approached, according to Chief Tim Stover. The suspect kicked an officer in the face, but that officer is doing okay, Stover said.

Police searched Trent and found some cash on his person and a few items from Cooper Gallery, according to Stover.

Trent is in Southern Regional Jail on $17,000 bond.
