MOUNT HOPE – A local family was attacked in their home in Fayette County and another family is behind bars, charged with the crime.

Ashley Rhodes, 24, Jess Rhodes, 50, and Sherry Rhodes, 48, are each charged with battery, nighttime burglary and conspiracy to commit a felony. Jess is also charged with malicious assault, wounding or battery.

Mount Hope Police Lieutenant Mark Larkin told Newswatch it all started late Wednesday night as a drunken dispute between both parties. Larkin said Ashley called the other family, and threats and obscenities ensued. After the conversation ended, Ashley reportedly kept calling back with no answer on the other line.

Then around 11 p.m. Wednesday, the Rhodes family kicked in the door of the family's home on Broad Street and attacked the man and two women inside, according to Larkin. Jess reportedly used a wooden club in the attack.

Larkin said the man has been released from the hospital for minor lacerations to his head and face. One of the women had a broken nose but both of them refused treatment.

Ashley and Sherry are in Southern Regional Jail on $50,000 dollars bond each, and Jess is there on $75,000 bond.
