BECKLEY - No vouchers or proof of income will be necessary Friday. If you feel like you'll benefit from some new pants, come on out.

Family Options Providers, Inc. will team up with to provide free jeans to the community.

"I was an employee with Jan-Care for many, many years and really got to see some of the harsher effects of what violence and poverty can do to a community, and so this for me was almost a natural step," Grace Sayre told WOAY.

This year, the clothing drive will be complimented by food, raffles and a dunk booth, which will feature local celebrities including the assistant chief of the Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department.

Organizers of the event told WOAY that clothing is important for the new school year. They also want to increase community involvement.

"The economy is really hard on people right now, and it's hard to send a kid to school with clothes that are inappropriate, and they're getting in trouble for them, or they're getting picked on for them, and so it's a nice gesture for the kids," Ashley Parrish said.

All proceeds from "Teens for Jeans" will be sent to the Women's Resource Center.

Family Options Providers is still accepting jean donations through Thursday at noon. The company is in need of pants for children under 6th grade.

The event is set for Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Word Park, which is the same location of "Fridays in the Park."
