OAK HILL - Meet Tiny in this week’s edition of Adopt a Pet!

Tiny is a 3 year-old Schnauzer mix. He has heartworm, so he is looking for a family who will make sure he is treated. The New River Humane Society is also collecting money to help with Tiny’s treatment. Folks can donate online by clicking here (just put a memo saying the donation is for Tiny’s heartworm treatment), or send money to P.O. Box 955, Fayetteville, WV, 25840.

If you are interested in adopting or volunteering, call the New River Humane Society at 304-574-3682. The shelter in Beckwith is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The New River Humane Society is hosting an adoption event next Saturday and Sunday. On August 30, the society will be adopting pets outside of the post office in Oak Hill during the Oak Leaf Festival. On August 31, a weekly dog walk will begin at 10 a.m. at the shelter, and then an adoption event will be held at Dirty Ernie’s in Fayetteville. The shelter will give out 10 percent off coupons to the restaurant if you stop by the adoption tent.

The shelter is always in need of donations of items such as newspapers, kitty litter, puppy/dog food and kitten/cat food.
