UPDATE: Crews battle fire at American Mine Power in Scarbro

UPDATE:

SCARBRO - A mining equipment building in Fayette County caught fire Friday morning.

Dispatchers said the fire started sometime before 6 a.m. at American Mine Power on Snuffer Street in Scarbro. Six fire departments responded to the scene and cleared the area by 9 a.m. Friday. No one was hurt.

The fire was contained to two rooms in the attic, and these rooms were heavily damaged, according to Oak Hill firefighters.

The company owner reported to firefighters that more than $1 million in inventory was destroyed. He told Newswatch that 18 people work there.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has been contacted and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

SCARBRO - Six fire departments responded to a fire Friday morning at a mining equipment building in Fayette County.

Dispatchers said the fire started sometime before 6 a.m. at American Mine Power on Snuffer Street in Scarbro. 

The building owner told Newswatch the fire started inside and damaged pieces of equipment. Crews are still on-scene as of 7:20 a.m. Friday. 

No injuries have been reported.

SCARBRO - Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire in Fayette County on Friday morning.

Dispatchers said the fire started sometime before 6 a.m. at the American Mine Power building on Snuffer Street in Scarbro. They say a caller alerted them that he could see smoke and heard a popping noise.

Crews are still on the scene as of 7:10 a.m. Friday. No injuries have been reported.
