LEWISBURG - Construction crews working on a Lewisburg multiplex over the last few months anticipate the project will be complete in early January.

The Barnette's are Logan natives, and their latest project is the Cinema 8 Lewisburg.

The building will house 8 screens and fit up to 1,000 people, according to Mayor John Manchester. The theater is likely the first of several facilities to be added to the development.

Although construction crews faced difficulty with topography and storm water regulation, officials said the finished product will keep locals local.

"People like choices in movies and to be able to have people have more easy access to it rather than to hop in a car and drive 50 miles to go to a movie and then come back," Manchester said. "This way, you'll be able to save some of the money in terms of being able to put it back into restaurants and shopping as well as a night out at the movies."

Lewisburg currently has a theater downtown that turned to digital about six months ago. Plans for the new theater have been in the works for more than a year.
