Five Mercer Co. men arrested following reports of shots fired in Princeton

PRINCETON - Five Mercer County men were arrested after reports of shots fired Wednesday night in Princeton and the suspects claimed to be target shooting, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Barry Farley, 22, Bradford Lafon, 20, Joshua Pendergrass, 22, and 24 year-old Steven Brookman, 24, all of Princeton, and James Hicks, 24, of Athens, are each charged with conspiracy and shooting within 500 feet of a dwelling. Both Lafon and Hicks are also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Dispatchers told Newswatch that the initial complaint call came in after 7 p.m. Wednesday of shots fired off Courthouse Road on Crown Point in Princeton. State Police, Princeton Police and the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. Officers reportedly heard the discharge of weapons when they arrived.

The suspects had two SKS rifles, a shotgun and a semiautomatic pistol, according to deputies. No one was hurt.

The suspects are in Southern Regional Jail.
